Port Richey

Canal-Laced Town at the River Mouth

Port Richey is a small waterfront city in western Pasco County at the mouth of the Pithlachascotee River on the Gulf of Mexico. Settlers from St. Joseph, Missouri, arrived in the 1880s, and the city was incorporated in 1925. Canals and river frontage give many properties water access to the Gulf, and U.S. 19 passes through town beside New Port Richey. Housing includes canal-front homes, waterfront properties, established neighborhoods, manufactured homes and condominiums.
