Dade City is the county seat of Pasco County, located in the Tampa Bay Area northeast of Tampa and southwest of Orlando. The city is named for Major Francis L. Dade, killed in the Dade Battle that sparked the Second Seminole War. The historic Pasco County Courthouse anchors the downtown courthouse square, and the Pioneer Florida Museum sits just outside city limits. Housing includes historic homes, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions and rural acreage.
