Palmetto

North-Bank River Town With Brick Storefronts

Palmetto is a city in Manatee County on the north bank of the Manatee River, across from Bradenton. Surveyed and platted by Samuel Sparks Lamb after 1868, it has a historic downtown of low brick business buildings along 10th Avenue. A former dolomite mine on the river was redeveloped in 1998 as a marina community, and Emerson Point Preserve sits on nearby Snead Island. Housing includes historic homes, riverfront properties, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions and condominiums.
