Sarasota is the county seat of Sarasota County, located on Sarasota Bay along the Gulf Coast of Southwest Florida. Early-20th-century development shaped its growth, and its cultural institutions include the Sarasota Opera and a state art museum. City limits include parts of Lido Key, St. Armands Key, Bird Key and Siesta Key. Housing includes historic homes, bayfront properties, established neighborhoods, townhomes and high-rise condominiums.
