Bradenton is the county seat of Manatee County, located on the south bank of the Manatee River across from Palmetto. Downtown runs along the river and includes the Bradenton Riverwalk and the Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. The Village of the Arts, just south of downtown, allows residents to live and work in their homes, and Anna Maria Island's beaches lie to the west. Housing includes historic homes, riverfront properties, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, townhomes and condominiums.
