Sarasota County lies along the Gulf Coast of Southwest Florida and includes barrier islands with beaches and beach communities. Sarasota is the county seat and North Port the largest city, with Venice and part of Longboat Key also in the county. Myakka River State Park, Siesta Key and the Sarasota School of Architecture are well-known features. Housing includes Gulf-front condominiums, bayfront and canal homes, historic neighborhoods, master-planned communities, villas and rural acreage.
