Clearwater is the county seat of Pinellas County, lying west of Tampa and north of St. Petersburg between the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay. Clearwater Beach sits on a barrier island across the Intracoastal Waterway, reached by causeway since a first bridge opened in 1915, and its Pier 60 extends into the Gulf. Cleveland Street is a historic downtown avenue near Coachman Park. Housing includes beachfront condominiums, waterfront homes, established neighborhoods, townhomes and newer infill homes.
