Plant City lies in eastern Hillsborough County along Interstate 4, about midway between Brandon and Lakeland. The city is named for railroad developer Henry B. Plant, and its restored Union Depot, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, anchors the historic downtown. Known as the winter strawberry capital of the world, it hosts the annual Florida Strawberry Festival each late winter. Housing includes historic homes near downtown, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions and rural acreage.
