Frostproof sits on the Lake Wales Ridge in southern Polk County between Lake Clinch and Lake Reedy. Its historic downtown runs along Wall Street between the two lakes, and the 1912 Atlantic Coast Line depot is open for tours. The name reflects the area's citrus heritage. U.S. 27 runs just west of town toward Lake Wales and Sebring. Housing includes historic homes, lakefront properties, established neighborhoods and homes on larger lots.
