Comer is the largest city in Madison County by population and land area, incorporated in 1893 and named for founding settler James Thomas Comer. Its historic brick storefronts line the main street near the railroad. Watson Mill Bridge State Park, with Georgia's longest covered bridge, is a short drive away, and Athens lies to the southwest via GA-72. Homes include historic houses, rural acreage and newer single-family homes.
