Watkinsville, the Oconee County seat, sits a few miles south of Athens along U.S. Routes 129 and 441. Its walkable Main Street features local shops, restaurants and the Eagle Tavern Museum, a landmark dating to the early 1800s. Harris Shoals Park offers walking trails, pavilions and a creek with shoals. Housing options include historic homes near downtown, established subdivisions, newer construction and homes on larger lots.
