Hernando County lies on the west-central Gulf Coast as part of Florida's Nature Coast and the Tampa Bay metropolitan area. Brooksville is the county seat and its only incorporated city, while Spring Hill is the largest community. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and the spring-fed Weeki Wachee River are well-known landmarks, and Chinsegut Hill rises north of Brooksville. Housing includes historic homes, established neighborhoods, newer subdivisions, Gulf-coast waterfront properties and rural acreage.
