Auburn is a small city located mainly in western Barrow County, with a portion extending into Gwinnett County. Its historic district along Main Street retains a classic small-town look, and a bright red caboose in R.H. Burel Park marks the town center. Near State Route 316 and Interstate 85, Auburn offers newer subdivisions, established single-family neighborhoods and homes on wooded lots within reach of Lawrenceville and Winder.
